Det. Harvey Harris made it into the post-Crisis in Detective Comics Annual #2 (1988) facing a gang of racists in the deep south with a teen Bruce at his side.

Det. Harris agrees to train Bruce and gives him a nickname which sticks in the back of the boy's mind for years -- Robin.

Happy 72nd birthday to Alan Moore who was born on this date in 1953.

Hands down, he is my favorite comic writer of all time.

He was the writer who made me realize in 1984 that comic books I had enjoyed since four years of age could be literary masterpieces.
