Alternate opinion—it’s ok, not great, and it shouldn’t be seen before TOS because it steals so many ideas from TOS and comprises the impact & meaning of those ideas when they show up on TOS.
In other words, TOS did it 1st, then SNW re-does the same thing & says “Actually, ours came 1st.”

That’s a toughie.
Doomsday Machine is a personal favorite. Heroism, tragedy, good SFX.

Amok Time is great Spock/Vulcan stuff. Iconic.

The Menagerie is a 2 parter, but maybe sounds as 1? Great story, & might make them want to watch SNW.

Space Seed might make them want to watch Wrath of Khan.

TOS (The Original Series) is GREAT (my fave) but acting, production values, effects & inclusivity have changed a lot.
Start with TNG. It starts really clunky but it still embraces what makes Trek special from ep 1. Starts to get great in S3, & all the 90s shows (& Picard & Lower Decks) reference it

It’s a real clunky start, but still amazing that they nailed the Star Trek feel so long after the original.
It doesn’t hit its stride until season 3.
If it was a Netflix show now, it would end before it got great.

Absolutely. The Borg SAY resistance is futile, they want you to just accept that and surrender, but it’s not & we shouldn’t.

Disagree. Vulcans are great at it, but writers hate that. Post TOS, the first thing a writer does when they get a Vulcan character is “how can I make this interesting, different alien into just another human character?”

The transport does not kill you. They addressed it in the TNG Tech Manual. It does disassemble you in very tiny bits (molecules), but you’re all the same material when re-assembled—nothing is destroyed.
