That's awesome! We flew internationally a few weeks ago during the shutdown, and for the first time *ever* I saw the JFK TSA folks give a person a hard time on a hand check of film.

They've been wonderful to me over and over. I suppose not having been paid in a few weeks shortens one's patience. 😞

Happy Birthday!! It's a good attitude. "Still on the right side of the dirt." 🙂

Miserable as in too cold? Too hot? Or too cloudy? Here’s ours if you want to compare! 🙂

Trolls vs Yoopers! The great divide... (I used to live with a Yooper who taught me these things) 🙂

Juanito? I think I might have partied with him back in college. 😉

We should do a project together. I live in Suffolk (County, New York). 🙂

Might get confusing, though. Our Southampton is in Suffolk instead of Hampshire.

Also, Massachusetts has their Ipswich in Essex... (and Gloucester too, for that matter...)

Juan Valdez? Personally? Only then will I be impressed!

I was thinking about our conversations this morning while having my coffee and it made me want to start cloning extra fingers into my photos, just to "stick it to the 'man'" if they're using my edits to train their systems. 😉

I think we may simply be talking about two different things here. If I allow LR to "interpolate" my own image, perhaps that's fundamentally different than adding hair where there wasn't some based on stolen data. Perhaps it's not. But in my mind / conscience, my final image would be the same.
November 13, 2025 at 1:49 AM
Some people would get crazy pissed if we cropped our photos, so... I guess in summary I view "expediting workflow" as something very different from "manipulating images" due to the fact that I have a conscience and I know what my own comfort limits are. With all gray areas fully acknowledged.
November 13, 2025 at 1:45 AM
I'll simply say that I - personally - do not document events. So I have no issue removing anything from a pimple to a seagull because none of that changes *my* photos. I understand and acknowledge that in other genres/situations I might feel differently.
November 13, 2025 at 1:38 AM
Yep. I fully acknowledge those gray areas. I am just of the opinion that it's not "universally evil" technology. If my workflow is faster because of it and I was going to do something anyway, who is anyone to tell me that I should have had to do it the hard way on principle? We're on the same page.
November 13, 2025 at 1:36 AM
Yes. I do understand the slippery slope. But if I am going to clone another part of my own image to remove something, which LR has been "suggesting" for years (which would be the best part to clone) and I agree to that... Am I stealing from myself?
November 13, 2025 at 1:32 AM
I hear you, but I think they're different. I've been cloning out small elements of photos for years. I don't feel that's disingenuous. Eliminating distractions does not fundamentally alter the image. But that's a very personal stance based on my own conscience/ethics. It's a slippery slope for sure.
