Consider the example in that Metroid article that's making the rounds. Having a voice tell you "hey, I think you might've missed something" when you bypass a save room doesn't teach the player to look out for save rooms. It teaches them to listen for instructions.

not only do those netflix movies/shows obviously not have any artistic aspirations, but they also can't even compare to the worst output of the old hollywood studio system in terms of basic craftsmanship. just full-on minimum viable product from front to back, all they have is market position

pringles barely even qualify as 'potato chips' given that they have to add three different kinds of flour to make the things have enough solidity to hang together as solid objects. this is an unnatural food, if I wanted real potato chips I'd pick one of the dozen others on the same store shelf 😤

imo this goes for a lot of things in metroid (& metroid-likes). u explore this strange alien places and find curious things, then it all gets established and u explore metroid looking places and find metroid things. u know what enemies u'll find, what upgrades yr gonna get bc its metroid etc

never played but always amused by the supposed attempt at making a less-aim focused fps with all these mmo ideas or whatever, and then putting a headshot sniper in the game day1 anyway.

jb is very tied to british imperial nostalgia imo. the whole craig series of films is them trying to stay true to that legacy while also realizing they gotta do something else. i liked it when it was fun gadgets and easy fun,whole thing is too leaden now. and amazon in the driverseat? perilous stuff
