Partly bc homophobic people view homosexuality as not something you just inherently are but as sex acts you perform. Same “It’s okay to be gay as long as you don’t act on it” logic. Show them a gay flag and they just see “the anal sex flag”. Their minds are just in the gutter. They don’t see love.
