Prasad was a known quack in 2021. The author went looking to disprove the reality of the disease, so he quoted whoever he could find. Prasad has now been elevated to lead the FDA. Treating him like he wasn't a quack is part of how we got here, to the dismantling of public health.

every time i see an article that says "screen time causes brain fog" i think of those 19th century articles that say things like "riding bicycles causes neurasthenia."
who needs medical research when any inconvenient health problem can simply be blamed on the latest technology?

the media focuses on the "mental health" aspect of covid and not on the physical brain damage.
if long covid is framed as a "mental health" issue then patients are abandoned and personally responsible for their own recovery. admitting it's neurological means patients merit medical research & care.
