Tesla are equally subject to recalls, like any manufacturer. Your reply is what confused me 'Not sure if it's just tesla that he is lobbying' - it sounds like the issue is that EVs are required to report fires, but combustion cars are not. Which could equally be a vehicle fault.

For what? Vehicle fires? If only EVs have to report then yes that's an issue.

How many EVs (not just tesla) catch fire. How many petrol / diesel cars? Look at those numbers, then look at the media reporting of the incidents...
