"The Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs unveiled a new plaque Monday at the President William McKinley High School campus. The plaque, placed near the statue of the school’s namesake, seeks to address Hawaii’s contested annexation history and the statue’s representation of it."

The text reads: Hawai'i was not annexed to the United States by a treaty, as suggested by the statue before you of U.S. President William McKinley with a document in his right hand. Such a treaty was never ratified by the Senate as required by the Constitution of the United States. Everyone is encouraged to seek accurate information regarding the insûrrection, led by representatives of Western business interests in Hawai'i and supported by U.S. Marines, which resulted in the illegal overthrow of Queen Lili'uokalani in 1893, and the subsequent invalid annexation of Hawai'i in 1898 under President McKinley. Further, the foregoing occurred despite petitions of protest that had been signed by over 38,000 kanaka ("native Hawaiians"). THIS PLAQUE WAS INITIATED BY THE ASSOCIATION OF HAWAIIAN CIVIC CLUBS.

Me too. Spending Tuesday on an all-day bird-watching tour. With the 6-hour time difference, I'm hoping there will be good news by the time I check in the early evening.
Notification from the State of Hawai'i that my ballot is complete and has been accepted. It shows part of the digital "I voted" sticker but I didn't bother to down load it.

As usual, had a cattle egret visitor while pulling up California grass and cutting down haole koa. These birds always hang around when I'm working. The bugs and worms I disturb make for easy pickings.
