My mom had this story where our family was at a hotel and one of the Andrews Sisters was there, with her kids. "OMG, you were in a pool with one of them!"

This is the first time I've ever heard one of their songs! But it reminded me of how excited mom always got telling that story, which was nice.

How old do you need to be to catch this reference?!?

Also, the dog was clearly starving. If the poor thing had be properly fed, then this tragedy could have avoided.

Sigh, guess I'm that old.

Can it make money? Yep.

Will it hurt people? Who cares, as long as we make money.

Aren't there laws against that? Where do you think we invest that money? PACs baby!

Only a particular kind of idiot thinks deregulation will help them. Unless you're a CEO, newsflash...

I appreciate the code golf of this, but two replace calls made me twitch.

Sadly, best attempt:

return ''.join('-X'[int(x)] for x in bin(n)[2:].zfill(bits))

Don't honestly know if it's better, but was fun to play with.

I understand that MAGA Evangelicals don't understand the religion they pretend to follow, but you'd think that an Episcopal priest would.

Christianity is founded on martyrdom. It's why conservative Christians have to fabricate persecution. The rest of us acknowledge suffering in the real world.

Not backpacks, but "duffel" bags. Filled with all the textbooks you didn't have time to grab between classes. Probably the only reason I built up any muscle mass as a kid.

Damn I feel old.

I'm guessing this is the one YouTube deleted you for? The audacity of addressing the tech overlord info mining scheme? It was on my watch later queue, sadly.

Perhaps it needs to reposted elsewhere? Everywhere?

We failed once, so we'll fail again, so why bother? Why do we always keep failing?

It can still be a church; just not a tax exempt one. We used to have rules about that...

Actually, those rules still exist, albeit drastically weakened, but are rarely, if ever, enforced. There used to be a party that stood for law and order...

Man, I got some bad news for you. To an American, most Brits sound the same. Seriously, we thought Robin Leach sounded posh.

To be fair, I was once up near York and a guy with an amazing Geordie accent asked me if Yanks can tell what part of the country people were from by accent...

Simple, really. Care more about citizens than corporate greed. Specifically, be for the people, not for the super PAC, billionaires, lobbies, etc.

Basically, do what you said you were going to do, not what you actually do.

FDR was enormously popular; with people. Robber barons, not so much.

Bizarro America might have decent healthcare and a government that tries to help people rather than exploit them? By the People for the People?

Like LBJ's party swap, perhaps we now live in a Bizarro world swap? Makes as much sense as voters choosing the worst possible outcomes for themselves.

Sorry, link didn't work. I'm guessing you're going to complain about misogynist Tim and avoid the fundamental absurdity of claiming that iron age stories contain "historical accuracy, science and math." Amusingly, no competent Biblical scholar would claim this, but surely you know better.

That is quite a list. To be fair, Bunker Boy's friends, um, useful associates, aren't known for their law abiding behavior.

Almost ashamed to admit that I learn of Leonard Peltier from a Robbie Robertson song... nearly 30 years ago!?!

I'm genuinely dismayed he's still incarcerated. Then again, not a rich white dude, so...

This was so over the top that I thought it must be satire. Poorly executed, sure, but no one could honestly... oh, dear, your profile. You actually believe that? Seriously?!?

Assuming gender based on name, I refer you to 1 Timothy 2:11.

Comedians often get the dismissive and inaccurate "wow, your job must be easy now that Trump's here."

But, honestly, guys, you have to admit this is way too close to a typical Trump headline. Like, had to double and triple check. Now thinking of ambergris and dead whales...
