like "Voracious" to inflict conditions on themselves, in a way they have more tactical control over! Other playbook abilities, like Anointed or Wielders of the Name, also encourage Temple PCs to take risks and pay deeper costs for power, in a way that looks quite different from other playbooks.

This is exemplified by their flashiest playbook ability - Nethervoyage. You know the trope where a character gets super injured and falls into a coma, but it's okay because they can recover and they'll be even more powerful when they do? Xianxia does this one all the time. That's Nethervoyage!
