Whatever “perceived” gains are to be had with this exploitive tech is truly just not worth it.

4/5 As they muddle reality trying to normalize and excuse exploitative GenAi models as they are.

Also depending on how the 50+ copyright infringement cases go in the US between 2026-2027 the excuse of “everyone was using it” might not fly in the courts. And thats just one out of many issues!

3/5 Late 2022 to early 2023. So games made before that do not use GenAi, and to this day the majority of games still do not use GenAi.

Yes, there are unfortunate exceptions to that but for the most part this is how it is.

So that’s the nuance some hope is ignored-

2/5 GenAi— as in diffusion models for image or video based Generative Models or Large Language models— are unique. NO OTHER AI in games requires ill gotten data to function at capacity. None.

GenAI are exclusive in this aspect.
