You know the helpers that Mr. Rogers told us to look to in times of trouble and crisis?
Alex was a helper.
ICE killed a helper today.

Recovery is different for everyone.
If you have been through sexual abuse and/or assault, please know that you have resources and support.
You are not alone.
Were that it never happened to anyone. 😞

This is the very short version of the first 15 years of my life.
I am currently 52.
I am currently working to recover from a very bad mental breakdown.

Nebraska is where I grew up and where the abuse happened.
So my abuser, my father, was not held accountable for most of the abuse he committed against me.
He cannot be held accountable for the mental health issues I have suffered from as a result of his actions.

I was 15 when I finally felt safe enough and strong enough to report what had been happening to me, which at that point went from sexual abuse to assault.
At the time of this post, a person who has been abused or assaulted has 3 years to report the crime committed against them.

He abused me literally for as long as I can remember him. I was able to find the strength to put my abuser in jail, which is a very hard thing to do for a variety of reasons, including time.
In every state there is what is known as a statute of limitations.

Dear Sir Take,
I have been looking through your posts, and I must say, with all due respect: I like the cut of your jib!
Such saucy sarcasm should survive through the ages.
Thank you!

The first thing I did was thank him for being there at all. Before I became disabled I did phone center work, so I get how hard it is. I promised to make it an easy call since I only had two questions. And I wished him more understanding callers than angry ones, at the end of the call.
Be humane!

Congressman Beyer,
I find that if you call at least twice, the call should stay live, but you really need to call first thing in the morning.
8am.
The last time I called, the actual hold time was just over 4 hours. I felt so bad for the person I spoke with. You could hear the tiredness in his voice

We were playing outside in T-shirts and shorts, it was such a nice day.
I will never forget how cold the wind got, now how quick it happened.

Nothing says fun like mid 70s around 1pm, followed by cold af winds and thick clouds dropping the temperature 30+ degrees in about an hour. Snowing before nightfall. Enough snow by morning to close everything down.
Eastern Nebraska, spring 1987.
Not the worst storm I remember!
🤣🤣🤣

Thank you, I needed this.

And the remake of it was even worse.
