there are like 4 flights out of dili. darwin, kuala lumpur, singapore and bali. Bit of a joke here that when you hear a plane overhead you know which one it is :)

wish i had more time for timor-leste, its my new favorite country but had to prebook my flight out and thought i couldn't enter indonesia via the land border here without a prearranged visa (seems i could?)

Really beautiful area, and its so peaceful. Barely hear any cars or bikes go by on the roads (mainly little electric tuk tuks here).

and everyone is so friendly, said bondia to almost everyone in mahata ane pante macassar!

recommend coming if you are in timor-leste and can afford the travel time

Exclave of Timor-Leste, completely surrounded by West Timor. Was the first place the portugese settled on Timor.

In the evening ran by the local rotary club, where i got another backpacker i met online to come as well, that did a showing of max stahls footage and more. We met so many locals (only foreigners there!) and joined to place candles around a national monument.

then got dinner and chatted for hours.

Today (12th) was a national holiday here to remember the santa cruz massacre (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_C...), so me and someone from the hostel went to see the cemetery where it took place (and a hindu temple nearby)

met up with a local he met yesterday and got invited to this memorial service

And then crossing the road you have hoards of bikes turning left making basically impossible to cross even with the green man

the traffic in vietnam terrifies me.
