28 here, I did the same, my dad (almost your age) got me into road bikes and I had an all steel bike with the gears on the frame at 13, was retro at the time (I believe the same bike he had when he was 13). I was a terror to others and myself. It was great.

I know exactly what you mean. This happens to me on the regular when I'm in that sorta dolphin mode where I'm half asleep half awake.
