you usually want an agent with equal or higher gear compared to the abnormalities level to take them on

for example a singular agent with the Aleph gear from Mountain of Smiling Bodies can straightup solo King of Greed (a WAW Abno) in one of the long hallways.

hell i had a day where king of greed escapes 5 times

the trick is to learn if its an abnormality that you can suppress or if its an Aleph level abnormality like Nothing there that will just fuck you over

Lob corp suffers from being the first game Pm has made
Library of ruina requires you to be good at deck building (and I suck at that)
Limbus company is definitely the most easy to get into with the only downside being that it’s a (really generous) gatcha game

It’s really more of a roguelite, with you being pretty much expected to go back to the last save points or restarting an entire run. And PM never was good at tutorials so yeah getting into it as your first PM game is hard (hell they don’t even cover the specifics of grinding exp)
