My last Sunday preaching in a blue scarf as an LLM. I'm being ordained deacon next Sunday (28th) at Guildford Cathedral. Prayers welcomed!

In addition, I've found that possessing the book helps me to find things on the website more easily (if I need to copy and paste).

If it's 'New Patterns' rather than 'Patterns', I'm sure it would. Actually, the original 'Patterns' has some of the same material in it, so that supplemented by the website would work too.

For me, New Patterns is the one I use most, and is good for intercessions. I look up most of the rest online, although that can take much longer than anticipated, even for items like seasonal blessings which should be easier to find than they are!

One of those times when I wish my late mother was around to ask. She (and I) were born and brought up in Wheathampstead, and she was definitely there in the 1940s.

I've done it! I was a bit disappointed that no-one else seemed to get it, though.

Prayers for a successful operation and convalescence, Rachel. I had major surgery for Crohn's in 1999, and have been largely symptom-free since, so I hope and pray that all will be well for you.

I'm currently reading Sam Wells's "Incarnational Mission". The chapter on "The Lapsed" is very thought-provoking, and emphasises that many no longer come to church because of things the church has done.

Not at all. I’m training under the new Caleb stream in our diocese for those of us in our 60s. We do the training and discernment together over the course of a year. The bishop has decided we should be called ordinands even though we have not yet been through a BAP. Hope that clears things up.

I had mine last Friday - exhausting but do-able. Prayers for yours.
