I was hoping I'd be able to take my first JLPT this year, but with Atlanta not being available it's just not worth traveling that distance for an intro cert.

And so, maybe next January, I want to try to do a run and see how much I can understand. Who knows, it may become a yearly thing. But this would very much be a capstone, and I don't expect to understand even 50% of this game in one year. But having the goal is important to me. 2/2

Ok, took a while but I've given myself a possibly terrible end-goal for my Japanese. One of my favorite games is Disco Elysium, mostly for the deep narrative. I found out today it let's you pick two languages (for text) and you can switch them at will w/ the Q-button. 1/2

Proud to say I was able to do an entire (children's) crossword in Japanese w/o looking anything up. It took me four tries to do it, but I did it.

Finally bit the bullet. No more Twitter. It didn't feel as cathartic as I thought it would. Mostly just sad at what it had become, and what we've lost. Not everyone has or can make it over here. And I'm left just feeling like this.

I'm not lying when I say this tweet from @hollycircling.bsky.social drastically changed how I view my characters.

I've come to the opinion that no two people use the same exact meaning for any word. Our histories and experiences slightly nudge all our definitions. We can all agree on "pastry", but where Person A means a small treat, Person B means a temptation, and Person C means a diabetic trigger.
