Finally expanding on what Jacky is a little.
I've been back and forth for years on whether or not I want her to still be a shapeshifter, but it seems too sentimental to do away with it now. Let it stay.

Fiddletails are faeries born to human mothers, they are 'conceived' when the mother eats a special mushroom from a faerie ring. There is no biological father.
Their nickname derives from the fern-like shape of the end of their tail, which can resemble a fiddlehead when balled.
The fronds on their back are soft enough to lay flat or can be trimmed. It doesn't hurt. The tail is fleshy.
A fiddletail will find it easy to cross between the waking world and other worlds from a young age. If they're intuitive (or lucky) they'll lean to hide from threats quick, but not everything is dangerous. Many will find themselves in a takes-a-village raising situation with a network of faerie aunts, uncles and cousins.
In modern times it's uncommon for fiddletails to run into each other, and most will never get a clear answer about what they are.
They prefer bare feet or faerie made shoes.
They start shapeshifting around young adulthood. Colors and markings vary, but the base shape stays the same across all members of the species. Jacky no longer shapeshifts but her alt form wa sa bit of a tank compared to her. Not shifting started as a choice (trauma), but she's mostly lost the ability.
Jacky's alt form is about the size of a big cat, but she's learned to survive without it.

Herman and Jacky (dragon forms), but Jacky is laying against Herman's belly and he's curled around her. Herman is significantly larger. They're both in their 20s.

Some Tam lore, and some other cat's way stuff.
I made this for Patreon. Might unpause subs soon and try to make more headworld stuff.

Tam, Sparks and Dumus
Sparks are believed to come from Winking Cats. Who are little seen spirits that are kind of like saints. Cats use sparks to change their shape, and different sinks drop different kinds of sparks. (Beside this, I doodled a dark cat and a light one, both with only one eye. The dark cat has a firey orb next to it. The light one has a wibbly yellow one). "Petty's sparks are known for packing a punch. Hark's are known for warbling."
Every cat belongs to a crop, and the head of the crop is its first member, a spirit called a Dumu. One of Tam's 'parents' was likely a dumu that made a deal with a faerie. The spirit moved on and Tam inherited whatever it had, including its status as a dumu.
As a dumu, Tam can give sparks a little boost. He also has access to a hammerspace which he gets to through his coat.
Dumus are kind of like low tier gods in the eyes of cats. They're usually old spirits that stay out of public view. It's likely no one is even aware Tam's predecessor is gone. (He's not telling).
Tam's predecessor was the progenitor of the cherry crop. He finds bein ga dumu weird. For him it's like being the youngest member of a pantheon, but all your titles mean "momma".

I drew this already with Human!Herman, but I thought it'd be cute with the dragon AU.
