Linux has come a long way in regards to hardware support compared to just a couple of years ago. The main thing holding it back is stubborn companies like Nvidia

Well in time it might. I just am not familiar with the hardware support process for Wayland. Like from what I've seen the sweetspot in age for AMD GPUs under wayland is Vega/Polaris. Which is 2017 (9 yeas ago now basically) and that's a huge margin for support. Much better than Windows

The open source drivers are just better on Linux for so many reasons. Linux is not Windows, the way drivers are managed is not the same.
