Sighhhh... It's that time of year again. My tribe DEMANDS mincemeat pies. I have to order the pie filling ONLINE now. The crust recipe requires <ahem> lard or shortning! The fun part is making the criss cross top crust. My Mom's 1950 Betty Crocker cookbook eases me through the whole kerfuffle.

Ever used Bisque Fix? It has positive reviews from fellow potters.
It's shockingly WHITE, which is OK for me, since this piece will have an undercoat of gloss white. It suggests mixing in mason stain to get a closer match... I'm guessing A LOT of stain! #pottery #ceramics #pottersofbluesky

The #Amaco #KilnIce test is back and I'm happy with the result! I used 5 heavy coats of #SnowDrift on Laguna Specked Buff, fired to ◇5. It's a little more tan/ beige than I expected, but very stable: no runs, no brush strokes, no thin spots! Pin holes may be typical? #pottery #ceramics #potterysky

I'm sad to see the #Vuelta end on such a chaotic note. Sad for the riders, the spectators, & the Vuelta sponsors. This conflict has been going on for how many centuries? It has no discernible meaning for bicycle racing in Spain... except to ruin it. Not likely to win many hearts and minds. #cycling

After my 24 hr 'online cooling off period' I have decided to bite the bullet & upgrade the ClayLabs app. I started to document my 1st piece and could only add 1 coat of glaze. That limitation will definitely NOT work for me. I nearly always have more than 1 coat & color of glaze. #pottery #ceramics

The endangered Mexican Long Nose bats are here! They eat their fill of mosquitos (and hummingbird nectar) on my porch every night from mid Aug through late Sept. They seem incredibly acrobatic, flitting in and slurping up the nectar ON THE FLY!! What voracious critters #southernarizona #tucson #bats

My dumb ass! I thought I'd like to have a stamp for my #pottery I saw a YouTube video using "dimensional fabric paint" to build a 3D stamp. So, here it is... but what's wrong with it!?!

The deviled egg platter is back from the kiln. I used the drape mold method, and I am VERY satisfied with the result. It will hopefully be a crowd pleaser (filled with deviled eggs!) for tomorrow's 4th picnic. #pottery #ceramics #pottersofbluesky #4thofjuly

Welp, its now 118° in my backyard. The AC in my studio just conked out... threw an error code I suspect says "I can't keep up with this nonsense!" Hopefully it will restart once it cools down tonight. More of the same predicted for tomorrow, so I guess #pottery production will cease for now. #Tucson
