Trump and the spineless elected Republicans who enable and encourage him have done a great job of taking care of their constituents. Too bad their constituency doesn't include any non-billionaire Americans.
If Trump ends up crashing the economy so badly that I end up living under a bridge and eating roadkill I'll still say it was all more than worth it to keep that trans kid off the swim team. /s

JD Vance is the living embodiment of the answer to the age old question, "At what point does an intestine quit being an intestine and start being an asshole?"

You’d think this would be a major news story of the day, but when I look at the NYT and the Washington Post I don’t even see it being mentioned. Why am I not surprised?

It is your unwillingness to find common ground and show respect for the views of people who believe that Hillary Clinton literally molested infant children and then ate their corpses that has caused America's ever-widening political and cultural divide. Try to be more openminded! 🤪

I can't think go anything less masculine than to equate not having the world line up to kiss your ass anymore to being a victim.

I'll paraphrase what Matt is saying here - "Okay, I'll begrudgingly admit Trump can be a bit of an asshole at times, but in the end its all worth it because we kept that trans kid off the swim team"

Now that Amazon has total creative control over the James Bond movie franchise I imagine the next Bond super-villain we'll see is some guy who is trying to organize a labor union at an Amazon fulfillment center.

I'm a former chair in a DJT 80% rural county. Money won't help out here if we can't recruit better candidates than the state legislature candidate I once watched try to convince a roomful of ranchers to become vegetarians. Our "brand" in rural already sucks - Better to run no one than to run that.

"Access to every library in the world"... This one one of the very points that was made regarding the internet as a whole 30 years ago. I've read that for every 1 TB of data transferred across the internet in an information search, that 10 TB are porn. And AI will be different because...?

Former member of Congress, former ambassador, former CIA director. I’d say HW probably had a stronger resume to be president than anyone that followed him.

When enough kids have died from preventable illnesses the MAGA right will start taking a hard look at this issue - and then probably blame Obama’s tan suit.
December 6, 2025 at 7:28 PM
To accuse a Trump voter of being stupid you is actually the kindest thing you can say about them, because all other alternatives point to them just being deeply flawed people.

A “real man” doesn’t sit around bloviating endless about what constitutes masculinity and how he is a victim.

I vote for RR twice. If I had it to do over again I’m not sure I would, but I don’t hold him singularly responsible for the GOP going off the rails. It took Newt making that bloviating asshole Rush Limbaugh an honorary member of the GOP House caucus to drive me out of the party.

I'm sure you're right about that, but I'm still forward to his being hauled before a tribunal of the United Federation of Planets.

Hegseth is yet another member of the Trump administration working hard to remind us that any jackass can set fire to the outhouse, but installing indoor plumbing actually requires knowledge, skills, and a certain amount of intelligence.

I served 21 years and it absolutely makes my blood boil to see what these self-serving MAGA clowns and jackasses are doing to an institution that I loved.

Cuban/Latin certainly fits in! As for a Cuban/Latin - American Country fusion Hank Snow's "Rhumba Boogie" comes to mind.

"Defined by radio over the century" - Sounds fascinating. Takes my mind to all the stories from the early days where finding a sponsor was critical to getting on the radio.

Ayn Rand. Oh, you’re referring to that paragon of stand on your own two feet capitalist virtue who died receiving Medicare and Social Security benefits. Her accolades hate being remind of her multiple hypocrisies. 😊

Especially the original version with that classic Den Helms pedal steel intro. IMHO, later versions she did that were more "Nashvegas" or "Country-politan" really don't capture Patsy's essence as a country performer.

I hated country music until I began to appreciate the links between these different genres - how blues, country, jazz, rock, etc, actually co-evolved with huge amounts of cross-pollination. The greatest musicians don't even think in terms of labels. If Bob Dylan loves Hank W, who am I to argue? 😀

My understanding is that, at the height of the "drone war on terror" that when the military officer thought the legality of a particular strike was legally dubious, they'd have a CIA guy actually "pull the trigger". I wonder if that is happening in our current "War on Fishing Boats"?

Feel free to check my math, but I calculate that 400 tons is enough to provide 1 gram of cocaine (typically enough for something between 10 and 20 uses) to every man, woman, and child in the United States.
