Things felt *dire* in the 3rd combat encounter of Delian Tomb for my long time friend group's first one-shot of #DrawSteel. Critical Hits saved a player from death. I highly recommend using Delian Tomb pregens for first games to learn the CHONKY 1st level character sheets gradually. Fun Was Had.

The Star Citizen YT creator ecosystem seems to run on speculation, leaks, and privileged early access. I want to engage with folks who have opinions and make novel contributions. Watching SC Youtube should not feel like being forced to speed run the game before getting access.

Last move of a 4 part Cosmic Encounter campaign was a forced 2nd place. Fighting would have gotten me 3rd or 4th place. Retreating king-made my rival for 1st. Not great ... but what can you do with Double Alien powers and at least 4 expansions on the table.

First #DrawSteel game ended with the quietest new player to our meetup group dropping a masterful, in-character insight on Polder-Human relations as advice to a Wode Elf bandit as part of a Negotiation. Holy cow ... this game device stole the show.

I listen to a lot of D&D podcasts. I watch a lot of D&D-Tube. Dark Sun was in the news this week, and I’ve got something to say.

I'd heard a lot of "I don't know a lot about Dark Sun" takes this week. I'd love to see #dnd creator-tube-podcasts cover what made Dark Sun great and a positive influence on the hobby, not just the parts that aged poorly.

I would like to play Dark Sun again, but I have zero belief that a WOTC product will be more than a 64-page, MacGuffin hunt + Glup Shitto spotting game. I want to play a TTRPG with great first party content. The conflict is real.

Spending the week procrastinating from game prep by reading Daggerheart and Draw Steel. We are in a fascinating time for RPGs.

I bought a Delta Green adventure book today. I may never run DG game again, but I was weak.

Ran the 9th Shadowdark game of our open table RPG meetup. Posing a challenge to players without knowing a good solution as the GM is always a good time.

Interesting article on expectation warping effects of AI "Inspo" in creative industries. I believe there is a growing divide between self-service use and counter-productive concept use in creative fields. www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2...
AI ‘inspo’ is everywhere. It’s driving your hair stylist crazy.
From bridal shops to med-spas to hardware stores, AI-generated photos are warping our sense of reality and hurting small businesses along the way.

Today in Cyberpunk RED there will be an anarchist's street race. Yes I am printing Fast and the Furious bingo cards ... I know what I'm doing.

I'm having a blast using AI tools as concept visuals for my cyberpunk tabletop game that I play in person with my friends in meat space. Using AI at all isn't for everyone. The tools are still evolving, but I think culture's going to change and this will find it's place: youtu.be/LnIM562mQA4?...

I use AI a lot, in my home RPGs, at work, every day. It isn't a substitution for creativity and talent and I think our culture will adjust quickly. NYT did a good video with Hank Azaria. The connection we feel to creators and artists is going to outlast the this change.

I use the chrome address bar to navigate D&D beyond when I'm mid-game. Put a space in front of the domain and it triggers a direct search. Last week's game my first that I got sent to D&D 2024 rules instead of 2014. Opened my physical PHB for the first time in 6-ish years.

Realized today that the last undelivered ttrpg kickstarter I backed just sent out PDFs. I'm waiting on the delivery of the physical book, but this is the last "ooh I want to try that" left from the D&D OGL fiasco. It's a Dungeon Crawl Classics monster book.

As far as I can tell, it's not prohibited by the Shadowdark RPG 3rd party 1.1 license, but the reverse engineering of the layout and art style of Shadowdark RPG by self-pub authors really bugs me. Theres Atari video game crash levels of junk out there. Maybe it is inevitable?

In the finale of a D&D game that started in 2020, when your GM suggests you wildshape into a mammoth, you just go with it. Not a time to to worry about CR. I body slammed a skeletal frost giant.
