There is no way that I don't miss my university days. And even more so when some random person ask how it would be to be and how to survive it.

I cannot for the life of me complain loudly about the food that I eat, the clothes that I wear, the place that I sleep in and the friends and family I have with me in my life. Everyday, whether I like it or not, I am reminded of the many reasons for 'wasatiyyah' and why you're never 100% right.

The one thing I regret in this era is how it makes me start hating words like 'trauma', 'normalize', 'narrative' and 'assume'. I hear it so often that I feel sick at the idea of using them.

What a time we live in....

Happy Monday peeps. I've started my day trying to remember what I did last week. Three hours later, I'm still renaming symbols to regain momentum and my colleague just conveniently disappeared to another fieldwork with a ping; 'Hang in there'.

Courage, my fellow GIS underdogs...courage.

Things I like today:

Although I rapidly gained weight this past year (~20kg), I don't actually hate myself all the time. My favorite thing today was having breakfast with my mom at our usual breakfast place. Yes, we argue all the time, but I hope I can do this for as long as possible if not forever

I strive to list things I like everyday.

For today, my favorite thing is that beautiful uninterrupted time I have while making maps for work, with the YouTube ghost story in the background, at home. Knowing that I am already at home, working, is the biggest satisfaction ever.

Yes. I love #WFH

I'm beginning to notice how sharing things on the Internet has made it a norm to overshare irrelevant information, over-consume products that you don't need & encourage rampant shamelessness. We made asserting oneself as a positive thing. But we also fail to normalize moderation and mindfulness.

To be able to come back home and eat, sleep and pray at my childhood home is the greatest relief for me. Even if none of my family is around, I know they'll always find their way home. So, I understand when Palestinian hold the keys to their homes like a treasure, even when the door no long stands.

Some people are retrospective. Some people are the opposite. People talk about respecting others' boundaries, I'd say...respect your boundaries first. Don't venture where you have no knowledge nor effort in committing to understanding it. You're bound to feel increasingly lesser.

I love math and I adore numbers as much as a good English classic. So, there is nothing wrong with people who decide to take up on something new later in life like learning numerical methods in their 40s. I picked up violin so much later than the conventional age too. At least you have a passion.

For being the the person of words and pages, one should beware of arrogance that comes from tunneling the books endlessly without any mental parry from fellow scholar.

Is there anyone out there, by any chance, uses the MathTyper - Math Equations extension on Google Doc? Cause I've been trying to find out how to make an alpha hat (circumflex) and I can't find anything. Does anyone have any idea? 😩

I don't know if this is just me not searching deep enough but boy life would be so much more beautiful if @zotero.org has that Rapid Journal Check add-on like in Chrome. You know...like when you save a reference in a database and it pings out the impact factor and stuff. That'd be a sugar rush 🍭

The truth is, we fail to understand that our every actions, thoughts, writings, production and communications, are all the input and ancillary pieces that creates culture. If you're behaving in a meh manner over meh things by saying meh stuff and typing meh status, then you're starting a meh culture

There's something about making maps that is sacred and inherent. It gives you that sort of spidey sense when people criticize a map and your immediate response is to question whether they are reading those maps correctly or just spewing stuff to sound like one of the gang. #gischat

That's it. I'm sold. We've been told to change the use of our environment and package management tool from`conda` to either `pip` or `poetry`. At the current operation peak, that's just asking me to park my fist into someone's mouth. So let's take a high road. Let's try `mamba`.

Let me just say, and this is on a personal note that I started my year by announcing my commitment to finishing @supergiantgames.bsky.social's Hades. Other than the fact that Zagreus is a dreamboat, I really do love the game and it's fate. Him dashing around and me trying not to let him die. #game🎮
