Az Vera's review of Monday Starts on Saturday
5/5: went in expecting a Soviet 1960's version of Pratchett-esque Discworld and then was also hit with: - scathing critique of academia - scathing critique of Ready Player One 50 years before it was p...

Wyrmwood: Road Of The Dead (2014): letterboxd.com/judges119/fi...
perfectly Aussie, perfectly over-the-top zombie film
The Long Walk (2025): letterboxd.com/film/the-lon...
damn gonna be thinking about this one a bit
A ★★★★ review of Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead (2014)
Perfectly Australian over-the-top and silly zombie film, a few twists that make it work so well. Gotta love Aussie cinema.

The Thing (1982): letterboxd.com/judges119/fi...
Green Room (2015): letterboxd.com/judges119/fi...
Can't believe I took so long to watch it; tense and confronting.
KPop Demon Hunters (2025): letterboxd.com/judges119/fi...
Perfectly made to be a hit, just like KPop idols, but gorgeous/cute
A ★★★★½ review of The Thing (1982)
While some of the effects have dated, the clawing feeling of cabin fever and paranoia is done so well that this movie still stands up so well.

also we can't forget that politics is like professional sport - people train for so much of their lives to appeal to whatever group will get them in regardless of their actual beliefs.

i googled it and first article said "matching skull and crossbones reminiscent of a totenkopf he got with colleagues while deployed" and my first thought was "drunk/stupid/young soldier" (that still doesn't excuse not getting it covered up)

but buried the lede finding out he worked for Blackwater!?

Finished campaigns of Modern Warfare (2019) and Modern Warfare 2 (2022).

No Steam reviews because I pirated. I only wanted to play the campaign but forcing me to shell out a hundred dollarydoos for a six year old cash cow is a fucking rort.

Review: unintentionally incredibly hilarious.

Flux by Jinwoo Chong: www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Camouflaged in trappings of a techno thriller this book is ready to pounce and force you to confront grief, the marginalisation of Asian-Americans, and realising you are repeating abuse cycles you promised to break.
Az Vera's review of Flux
4/5: Fantastic and unsettling read that is not done justice by it's blurb. You go in expecting: "A dazzling, time-bending neo-noir about a young Korean American man whose reality unravels when he sus...
