Israel's, US-backed, assassination attempt on the Hamas' negotiating team in Qatar reveals it isn't just desperate to win this war but to dismantle every principle that could restrain it, and to impose a world made in its own image where sovereignty, alignments, negotiations, and diplomacy become obsolete. The US imperial order denies sovereignty not only to adversaries but also to so-called allies and collaborators who are routinely humiliated and reminded that they are not states but vassals and protectorates. Even the pretense of negotiations is cast aside, because negotiation implies equality and sovereignty. Perfidy is now a governing logic where deception and betrayal are normalised and routinized instruments of statecraft. The world is forced into two camps, with no middle ground: vassalage or resistance.

BREAKING: Israel bombed Hamas negotiators in Doha, Qatar as they gathered to discuss Trump's "ceasefire" proposal — a deal so thin it now looks like bait. A Hamas official told Al Jazeera the talks were a trap, recalling Trump's use of nuclear negotiations with Iran to target its leaders. Israel has confirmed that the White House was notified in advance. Qatar, which hosts the US military's Central Command, condemned the Israeli strike, which leaves any future ceasefire talks in serious doubt.

Assault of Human Rights Defender Upon Arrival in Israeli Custody The Freedom Flotilla Coalition confirms that upon arrival in Israeli custody, U.S. human rights defender, Christian Smalls, was physically assaulted by seven uniformed individuals. They choked him and kicked him in the legs, leaving visible signs of violence on his neck and back. When his lawyer met with him, Christian was surrounded by six members of Israel's special police unit. This level of force was not used against other abducted activists.

At that moment, bursts of gunfire erupt close by, at least 15 shots. "Whoo! Whoo!" one contractor yelps. "I think you hit one," one says. Then comes a shout: "Hell, yeah, boy!" The camera's view is obscured by a large dirt mound. The contractor who took the video told AP that he saw other contractors shooting in the direction of Palestinians who had just collected their food and were departing. The men shot both from a tower above the site and from atop the mound, he said. The shooting began because contractors wanted to disperse the crowd, he said, but it was unclear why they continued shooting as people were walking away.

Statement From Dr. Noor Abdalla, Mahmoud Khalil's Wife These new allegations are ridiculous. They underscore that the U.S. government has no ground to stand on in my husband's case. The Trump administration is grasping at straws to find charges to bring against my husband, who has done nothing except speak up for Palestinians who are being killed with U.S. weapons in Gaza. These latest allegations only demonstrate that the government recognizes the original charges are baseless and is desperately seeking a leg to stand on. In the last week, Israel has killed hundreds of Palestinians in Gaza who survived 17 months of starvation, forced displacement, bombardment, and genocide. These are the people that Mahmoud was speaking up for, and he is not alone: Millions of Americans across the country don't want their tax dollars paying for Israel's bombs and bullets that are used to kill Palestinian families. -Dr. Noor Abdalla March 25, 2025 Cont. Mahmoud is proud of interning at UNRWA - a UN agency that serves more than 5 million Palestinian refugees around the world. Mahmoud highlighted his internship with UNRWA on his Linkedin. This internship was not only approved by Columbia University, but such internships were required as part of his degree at the School of International and Public Affairs. The government's claims regarding Mahmoud's work for the British government are similarly baseless. His role at the British Embassy in Beirut was to help connect Syrian students with opportunities to study in the UK. As stated in the permanent residency application, his role ended in December of 2022 when he was preparing to begin his graduate studies at Columbia University. Statement From Marc Van Der Hout, Whose Firm Is Representing Mahmoud Khalil in His Immigration Proceedings The new allegations brought by DHS in Mahmoud's immigration case are completely meritless. More than that, they highlight that the government knows its prior assertion that Mahmoud should be deported for "foreign policy" reasons is baseless and solely motivated by attempts to chill Mahmoud and others from exercising their completely lawful right to speak out against the horrors that both Israel and the United States have been perpetrating on the people of Gaza for almost a year and half now. All Americans should be outraged by this government overreach. As to the new allegations, they are baseless. Mahmoud was not a "member" of UNRWA (United Nations Relief Agency), but proudly did one of his three Columbia Master's program internships there in the summer and fall of 2023. His other two were at the Palestine Mission of the UN and his final one was his Capstone project with Communities Speak, a collaboration between Columbia, community organizations, and the City of New York. All three were approved by Columbia for credit and were part of his overall Master's program, which he clearly listed on the permanent resident application. -Marc Van Der Hout March 25, 2025 Cont. The allegation that he worked beyond 2022 at the British Embassy in Beirut is simply wrong and would be completely irrelevant even if accurate. His work there ended in December 2022, as he stated in his residency application. Lastly, Columbia University Apartheid and Divest is a collection of organizations and there is no individual membership so that allegation is also completely meritless. In fact, during the protests at Columbia, Mahmoud served as a negotiator between the University and the protestors (which included CUAD) trying to keep things peaceful and constructive as countless people have stated in filings in court. The government has brought these new baseless allegations in an attempt to hide from the fact that its true motivation in bringing all these charges against Mahmoud is to silence him. This is McCarthyism repeating itself. Mahmoud and his community of supporters will not be silenced, and the American public should stand up strong and loud against this. Right now, our focus remains on freeing Mahmoud, who has been wrongfully and unjustly imprisoned by U.S. immigration for doing nothing more than exercising his constitutionally protected right to free speech. -Marc Van Der Hout March 25, 2025
