idk if anyone can tell just by looking but a fun fact about this drawing is i slightly altered some of his facial features to represent judau ashta a little bit more. wing loves to try to "be" uc gundam by writing characters full of homages & i wanted to reference that a little

oh those bus seats have such a fun arcadey pattern

but like in-universe i think they just wanted a highly intelligent animal to make a sort of comparative case between exploiting the environment & exploiting newtypes

i think the real out-of-universe meta explanation for this is in the mid-90s there were a lot of psychic dolphins in media as the result of a niche (and very awful) real life branch of pseudoscience. see also: sega genesis game ecco the dolphin
