Very tense in Istanbul tonight: police tried to prevent CHP lawmakers and citizens from entering the CHP (via Halk TV). Incredibly worrying that police and ordinary citizens brought against each other like this.

Meanwhile, massive demonstration in western Turkish city of Aydın against Erdogan's AKP and its recent, shocking move to snatch away the city's CHP mayor into AKP ranks in a "mysterious" way. Aydın, along with neigboring Izmir, has been a stronghold of CHP. Demonstrators demanded renewed elections.

Trump & Erdogan speak on the phone; Erdogan invited Trump to Turkey, reports Anadolu agency. Erdogan wants to advance military cooperation. Also he's now facing possibly the biggest challenge to his power from the Turkish opposition since more than two decades, as anti-govt protests continue.

Circulating in Turkey, a boycott calendar for April. "GENEL BOYKOT" is for days one doesn't buy anything at all to as protest to Erdogan govt policies, "BOYKOT" means just boycotting pro-govt brands and shops, buying bare minimum and using cash on those days.

Tuli tällainen kutsu 👇🏼Suomessa asuvat turkkilaiset aikovat kokoontua solidaarisuusmielenosoitukseen sunnuntaina Helsingissä, Oodin edessä, ja kutsuvat myös muita osallistumaan demokratian rippeiden puolustamiseksi Turkissa. Tiedoksi halukkaille ja kynnelle kykeneville!

I disagree with this headline. There's a better chance than ever, IF the world supports protesters. Compared to Gezi 2013, now: pretty much everyone against status quo has been mobilized, there's clear political leadership (CHP), realistic objectives (free Imamoglu, early elections), failed economy.

At least 10 journalists covering the protests in Istanbul have been detained in early morning police raids, some of whom I know from Istanbul -- among them great AFP photojournalist Yasin Akgül and Bülent Kılıç. Here's the list of our colleagues (by Diken):

Solidarity protest for arrested Istanbul mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has been attended by tens of Turks living in Helsinki, Finland. CHP did not organize a vote here but a "ballot" has been organized here, too. (Handout photo, place: Helsinki Central Library Oodi)

Turkin pääoppositiopuolue CHP on avannut "solidaarisuusuurnat" ympäri Turkkia, joissa ihmiset voivat osoittaa tukensa pidätetyn pormestarin Ekrem Imamoglulle CHP:n presidenttiehdokkaaksi. Medioille jaetussa kuvassa İmamoğlun vaimo ja poika äänestämässä. (Alun perin äänestys vain puolueen jäsenille)

Historic message indeed: jailed Kurdish PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan has called for his organization to lay down arms after 40+ years of fighting, which has claimed tens of thousands of lives. Pervin Buldan from Kurds' DEM party (picture) read message.

Muisti Suomen sodissa kaatuneita tataareja ja Tampereella maistamiaan pärämäçejä, puhui sujuvasta yhteiselosta.

Excitement in Turkish medias post-Assad. Turks not only want Syrian refugees to return asap, but also Turkish businesses to pioneer reconstruction estimated "worth 400 billion USD" in Syria. Medias also reported many European countries' quick decision to freeze Syrians' asylum applicatios.
