What happened to the age of web games?? Are they just dead because Adobe Flash is gone? Someone needs to fix this asap.

It's weird that people use the same email address to log into everything from Netflix to their bank **and** use it for communication.

I talk about this more in my blog post about how I am applying to jobs:

How My AI Email Sorter Got Me an OA | Ayjrin.dev
The 'AI' is just an LLM call, but it is still the linchpin to the machine-shot-gun approach I use.

Is there a good term for getting tricked by AI generated content into thinking it’s real?

I propose the term ”getting slopped”

Just set up my first Proxmox server to migrate my Jellyfin container to. Why did I not do this before? This is so cool! Now I just need to find more stuff to put on it... 🤔

I’m not a DevOps or cloud architecture guy. Can someone explain how to not get got by the big cloud provider in the sky?

My intuition is a load balancer between regions, but idk how feasible that is at scale.

I hear a lot of "you won't be replaced by AI; you will be replaced by someone using AI." I don't agree with this dogmatically, but I don't hear about how people who don't hand everything over to a machine have a strong edge against people that abdicate the hard work of thought.

All these job postings are talking about how their company is a "fast paced environment", and while that's what I'm looking for, I have this hunch that the bulk of those are average paced -- I dare say, some might even be slower than average paced!!

SB 53 passed here in CA. Screenshots on how the law can change in the future. I'm no lawyer, so maybe someone can explain this to me. Does this mean that the big AI companies get to quite literally write the law on AI? Why would this depend on anything other than, oh idk, democracy?

Why would a project management company ever choose the name "Monday"?

Truly silly that there is a clarification question whenever I say "I am going to do X on Monday".

It's a pet peeve of mine when people screenshot or copy paste an LLMs response in response to something I message. It's feels like a more sincerely rude, less archly funny version of LMGTFY.com

Are vibe coders worse than script kitties? I think, perhaps.

I've been demoted to LucidChart engineer. I feel as though the majority of my engineering fun time is off the clock nowadays (what little off the clock time I have). There's just too much to build than I can do all on my own.

I say "NumPy" like "dumpy" -- I will not apologize, nor will I change.

How do you write efficient Python? Import a library written in C.

This take is too hot for Linkedin -- You can't have ARR if your company is 5 months old. These AI bros need to chill.

How on earth did these LLMs get trained to smother everything in emojis? I thought they scraped the entirety of human knowledge to make these things. Unless they got hold of my middle school text messages, I'm at a loss for how this happened.

I've had a revelation while playing MTG -- The concept of "reading the card explains the card" has been instrumental in training me to carefully think through the precision of language and has dramatically altered my thought process regarding precise and descriptive naming while writing code.

I think its finally time for me to learn AWS and learn how CI/CD pipelines actually work. Vercel is great and all, but I've run into too many limitations that I could fix if I knew what I was doing and could control the environment a bit more. Now I just need to figure out where to start in AWS...

Ya. I'm an AI engineer. I use the OpenAI SDK all the time.

Instead of saying we are going to add "AI" to our software, I vote we say "probabilistic functionality".

It really leans into the "It hypothetically *could* work well for a lot cheaper..." aspect of working with AI.

Now we just need something that captures the "herding cats" feeling of the job...

Was looking at building my first MTG Commander deck -- think I might need to crack my stats book back open. It's time to get mathy.

I started backing up my DvDs and Blu-rays and putting them on my Jellyfin server, so I decided to get an internal BD-R. Since when are these so expensive? I remember getting one that was haphazardly yeeted into a giant bin with a $15 sign on it from Frys (rest in peace). Now $59 is the lowest I see
