It would depend on their normal tastes. Are they into action/comedy? Army of Darkness. Taught thrillers? Alien. Period dramedies? Interview with a Vampire. There's no catch all, and everyone's tastes are different. If you don't tailor the choice to their tastes, it's likely to fail either way...

These shows gain traction and viewers through drama created by toxic behaviors. The cast knows it. If they want big checks, they have to be toxic. The audience, particularly younger viewers, don't consider this when watching. They see these toxic behaviors, and over time, they het normalized.

There is no paradox. Society exists under a social contract where we each agree to treat each other with respect. Bigotry is the opposite of respect. By being bigots, they exempt themselves from the social contract, and society should seek to remove them.
