Putin's Russia has no regard for human life. At all.

though it is utterly frustrating that the youth is polarised like this, with so many voting for the AfD. /3

two of their main faces had the good sense to understand how terrible the situation in Ukraine is so they don't align with Russian talking points anymore. So the youth's support of the LINKE does show that a majority of them understands what fascism once did to humanity. At the same time /2

To be fair though, the fact that the LINKE reched better results than the AfD is a sliver of hope. While I don't have any ilusions when it comes to their opposition to NATO and their warped idea of what peace is, at least the are FOR a sourveign Europe and strongly against fascism. And at least /1

people are following them. I guess it's just so much easier to hate than to look at the complexity of many problems and acknowledge that the world is damn more complicated than anyone would like it to be. /6

wife/partner, hardly pays taxes here in Germany and can just leave the country when it all goes south. And Farage is playing the same game as her. But because each of those right wing figureheads promise easy solutions by just getting rid of everything that actually gave us stability and peace /5

for the money. They poison the minds of our populations and pave the way for people to give in to their darkest feelings again, and they do it only to enrich themselves. Weidel, who leads the AfD right now, doesn't even live in Germany half the time. She's living in Switzerland with her /4

sometimes I just want to scream. And I don't know what is worse, their willingness to embrace hatred all over again, or that they don't even see that most of their leading figures are just milking them for their own gain. People like Farage and Alice Weidel - much like Trump - are only in it /3

I know! And sometimes I am despairing over it. My grandma, who was still a child/pre-teen during WW2, didn't talk much about the war but what she told sent chills down my spine. Being so young she never got to see the worst of it (thankfully, and at least according to what I know) but her words /1

I couldn't agree more with you! Also, historically, whenever radical ideologists (usually fascists) managed to use new media to their advantage, it ended badly. Unfortunately, extremists know to use new media as manipulation way before other forces even begin to understand what's happening.

Thank you! It is pretty clear that the Christian Democratic party (CDU) will receive the most votes. But is has to be expected that the AfD will receive 20% or more as well. If it goes real bad they will reach blocking minority, so I hope dearly that at least this can be avoided.

likely become the next president. Neither of the two have any aspirations to make Europe a beacon of democracy and safety, instead they want to destroy the union so they can each play dictators in their countries. 😕 /4

fill the void and create a new powerful leadership within the EU. The old guard, France and Germany, certainly won't do it - especially considering that the openly pro-Russian and fascist AfD will gain between 20 to 30% of votes next week in Germany and that in France Marine Le Pen will /3

Sadly, too many in Europe have become complacent. Decades of living in safety and with the illusion of being without enemies (Russia posed as a friend after all) killed any drive for moving forward. In Germany for example, the one thing that motivates people to vote for any which party was the /1

I really hate the way Trump treats people. He is mean, cruel, and vindictive. Why would anyone like him as a person? Why would people even vote for him?

It wasn't only them indeed. Non-voters in general cost them the election (unless the election fraud worries are true, though we will never know that), but Muslim/Arab voters believing Trump or voting third party /1

would not retaliate in any majour fashion, and instead you allowed those who would gladly see Palestinians disappear to lead the narrative. You are right that ignoring your voices was not a winning strategy, but neither was enabling the enemy of those you claim to care about. /4

establishment did was ignorant and ugly, but it was no war. And what those who supported Gaza did was foolish and blind. Why were there no protests at Republican rallies? Why was there no attacks on those who promised to be as radical as Netanyahu? You chose to attack those who you knew /3
