I think this has been a heavy blow to public trust in these processes and EU's political leadership especially in areas of environmental legislation. A massive missed opportunity ☹️

🗂️ Creating #SocialImpact through tourism is not just about tourism. The most important measure of success for a social impact project should be the adoption of the solutions by the local community.

🫶 Empathy is a key ingredient for #ResponsibleTravel. The more opportunities travelers have to connect with and get to know local people, the more likely they will be to respect the local culture and customs. And we should be striving to promote more of such empathy-growing experiences.

🪴 Tourism, when done well, is a powerful tool for supporting sustainable community development. A key part of local community tourism initiatives is realizing “tourism done well” is NOT just about tourism, but local ownership, relationship building, fair and equal representation of local voices.

🤝 Tourism organizations have important opportunities AND responsibilities to play an active role in their communities, by participating in sustainability initiatives by the local destination body, or if there isn’t any such existing initiatives, coming together with others to start one.
