I feel it's just a hold-over from when steam was the tech everyone knew.
Steam on a ship ran everything from propulsion to lighting to heating; so in scifi, the "all power to the engines" is the steam equivalent to cutting the heating and electrical generation to allow more of it to power propulsion

I like checks. I don't tend to use them for every little thing. Typically just bills and major purchases. Those everyday purchases go on the credit card.

I've shot a "light draw" compound bow that was set to 80# and a standard long bow of 120#. that shit sucked, this was back when I could take 100# haybales and throw them 1-handed into a truck

Possibly. depends on how sheltered the location, the overall humidity levels of the area, and a dozen other factors.
It could be likely recovered by a specialist with the tools and knowhow to do it, but I would be doubting it if they just charged the phone/replaced the battery and pulled up the pics
