Zelda's father, Balderich Redsteele, died in the defense of Ala Mhigo from the Garlean invasion. Balderich worked as a palace guard, one of whom would later overthrow the King of Ruin. Zelda was raised by several Rhalgr worshippers in an orphanage, leaving her idea of fathers open and malleable.
