And yeah, communal hunting is frequent with buffalos. There doesn't seem to be real coordination, but when one dragon starts the hunt, others seem to follow. It's a battle of attrition.

They'll dart away from head charges, even using tail slaps to keep some distance, and then close in. Relentlessly. For up to a week. This is so different from other extant macropredators, I can't avoid thinking about it when imagining large extinct predatory reptiles.

I always find it fascinating how Komodo dragons hunt buffalo. While they usually ambush or chase smaller prey, they openly circle around buffalos, trying to find an opening to bite at their tendons and muzzle. They also don't really care about isolating "weak" individuals, as seen here.

The insane thing about this attack is that the crocodile is making a charge at the fully exposed back of the elephant. There's no mistake, as it often seems to happen with trunks/genitals.

Interestingly, emu chicks have stripes even on the skin! They're pink-red and grey-blue underneath the feathers, like ostriches. I wonder if the stripes are maintained throughout adulthood, as at this stage the pattern is already fading on the feathered chicks.
