Since mathematics is a classroom-intensive subject it could explain why this increase is only seen in mathematics and not natural sciences. But then again, TIMSS should not change over time in test criteria, right?

However, given that Sweden is the only Nordic country to increase its score since 2019 I am slightly suspicious that any change in the test (any lowering of standard in test criteria) would have benefitted Sweden given that the schools were kept open during the pandemic.
