Guess the Swiss model would appeal slightly more to the Ukrainians, lol. Armed to the teeth and a global economic top performer.

I don't know the details but my guess is that supporting Ukraine militarily is generally unpopular in Hungary. It's a strange country in more than one way. Also, the rival is center-right, and he's trying to take votes away from Orban's core support.

National elections, no referendum. Right now, Orban would lose, according to opinion polls. His rival would restore a more constructive stance toward the EU. Though they also don't want to support Ukraine against Russia. But they'd hang back more and not antagonize Ukraine or the rest of Europe.

Imagine being American right now. How do you feel when your country suddenly becomes the scum of the West?

There is no mechanism for that. The EU is already doing what it can to informally make life difficult for Orban but they can't kick him out. Hungarian voters will have to do that next year. If they still get to vote in fair and free elections.

Well, more wake-up calls. Maybe one day we'll thank him for it.

And also, someone can be a great entrepreneur but otherwise a midwit.

Trump won't be in power >4 years (?!) so dumping the F-35 immediately seems like an overreaction. But Europe shouldn't sink any more money into new orders. Having *some* F-35 is probably a good thing for now. Pursuing sth like the the Typhoon+drone model in parallel seems like the best option.
