I wonder if Sting taught Darby Allin the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique.

1. WrestleMania 37

It’s a pirate ship.

2. WrestleMania 39

This feels like the third and final form of movie themed PPVs. First it was WM 21, then SummerSlam 2008, now this. The theme of a theater having a premiere is awesome. Using the LED screens to look like movie posters that have the wrestlers on them is inspired.

3. WrestleMania 33

Nine years later in the same stadium and they managed to make an even better stage. The show’s theme was a theme park and they went all out with it building a roller coaster and the Universal Studios globe. The sheer work put in to build this earns it a spot.

4. WrestleMania 24

The hotel setting is a great look. And it looked even better as night fell and it was all lit up.

I considered putting WM 41 on this list, but I think 24 is a little better as actually being outside makes the hotel stand out more.

5. WrestleMania 27

Yeah, yeah, this was a terrible show with only one really good match. I know. It was the first WrestleMania I watched live.

The stage is still awesome. The big scaffold not-a-spider-but-I’m-calling-it-a-spider looming over head is great along with the reflective lighting.

The other thing that I found funny is how much the WrestleMania 20 stage resembled the Uncensored stage from the WCW Mayhem video game. I played the hell out of that game when I was a kid.

6. WrestleMania 20

This is the template that WM 29 built off of, but I actually like it a bit better. The city skyline is a really cool look and works for a show in MSG. This show also introduced the floor Titantron, but it wouldn’t become a regularly used stage piece for another 12 years.

7. WrestleMania 21

I love the movie theater theme they went with here. The Titantron being a movie screen with a marquee on one side and the Hollywood sign on the other. It’s a bit small but they were in an arena for this show, so it’s understandable.

8. WrestleMania 29

All of the New York City landmarks put together is an incredible look. The sheer scale of it is insane as well. The only thing that knocks points off is that this show was in East Rutherford. Were WWE trying to piss New Jersey off?

9. WrestleMania 19

Another basic but very enduring stage. The arches give the look of an athletic podium, which is fitting since Kurt Angle was in the main event. Gave the show a very majestic and regal feeling.

Also, this is actually my favorite WrestleMania. Just an excellent show top to bottom.

10. WrestleMania 17

Might as well start with the one that started it all. While it is rather basic, its size really made the show feel like a big deal, especially since it was the first WrestleMania to take place in a stadium in years. Also it makes for a good base for arena creation in WWE 2K.
