I liked my nt1a (though its definitely on the obnoxiously large side), and they now have a usb+xlr version which is nifty.
AT2020 is a very popular alt to the yeti as well, but that was a while ago

The problem with the yeti is that the only real upgrade path requires buying an interface as well, and imo i dont think the jump in price is worth it in 90% of applications.
Sidegrades exist, and the best thing to do there imo is get a less obnoxiously large usb mic
