I recall. Casting off guys like McCann, Matheson, Marino, Rodrigues - good prime-age support players - and doing little to replace them was just the worst. Their hit rate on trades/signing since then is inexcusably bad. Trading picks hasn’t been the big problem… acquiring real talent has IMHO.

I mean, I agree. If you can’t help but be bad, you might as well lean in. We all knew it would happen eventually.

I think what’s frustrating is we all thought it would be Father Time catching up. It turned out to be just about everything else: poor roster construction, talent management, etc.

Considering the context of the team, probably. You could overlook a period like that when the team was a contender. Feels pretty hopeless right now.
