We are so thankful to our other collaborators on this project (@bradyjay.bsky.social @brenchurchill.bsky.social and Lucas LaRochelle), doubly to Lucas for creating the platform, to our generous participants, and to everyone who continues to grow, make and sustain Queering the Map 💜

This project has been so radical for me, full of joy and critical possibility. I love the world that queer theory and practice opens up. Queeringthemap.com is a unique gift

Five years ago today I got my mitts on my debut novel, Into the Sea, a work of sociological fiction published by Brill. I have (finally) really found my love of writing again and am happily working on my second after many many fits and starts

highly recommend a tour of Chetham’s Library for folks still in Manchester. It’s the oldest surviving public library in Britain, in continuous use for over 350 years, where Marx and Engels met, read and worked together in 1845. You can read (copies of) the books they read in situ! #britsoc25

My new article examines what crisis events like wildfires do to technology innovation - specifically, what kinds of AI affordances are being prioritised now and how these shape narratives about why we need this tech.

Vibes-based methods

Something new from me: people are (still) using ‘vibes’ to talk about generative ambiguities and this says something interesting about social life and social research. Here I look across conceptual trends to consider why vibes are the vibe

So many great papers at Digital Intimacies X this week! Yesterday I especially loved Shivangi Garg’s work on queer people in urban India which used the metaphor of a butterfly, and @claresoutherton.bsky.social and Naomi Smith’s work on Kate Middleton conspiracy theories 🙌 #digintX
