Alfred Hitchcock's first movie, The Pleasure Garden, is 100 years old this year. I'm working on a long-term project to review each of his feature films. You can keep up with this journey here:

Things have been a bit quiet here lately, but there’s plenty of film noir (and some horror) coming up. Here’s a sneak preview:

“But, as you see, it’s a beautiful day, the beaches are open, and people are having a wonderful time. Amity, as you know, means friendship.”

Be safe today. The dangers out there are not confined to the water.

I went to the Busch Annapolis Library today to see one of my favorite #filmnoir movies, DOUBLE INDEMNITY (1944). When my friend Ann was unable to present the film and lead the discussion, I offered to step in and help. Thanks to everyone who welcomed me and enjoyed this great noir!

RIP #DavidLynch - What a monumental loss... My first David Lynch film was THE ELEPHANT MAN, and I've never forgotten the experience. May we all never forget Lynch.

Delighted with this Christmas present from my wife. I just watched Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (1979) for the second time. Next: Rereading the novel, then reading Smiley's People, *then* watching that mini-series. I think I may have a John le Carré fixation going on...
