‘The creator of the universe is also the God who reaches out to us in love.’ This was the theme of my confirmation sermon at St Canice’s Cathedral in Kilkenny this afternoon. I had a helpful visual aid.

We marked the Patronal Festival of St Lachtain’s Church in Freshford today. It is well known for its distinctive Romanesque doorway. The choir from St Canice's Cathedral led the music. After the service I launched the Féile Lachtaín Festival highlighting events being hosted there this year.

Later today I’m returning home after a few days retreat at St David’s Cathedral in Wales. The daily rhythm of morning and evening worship and fruitful meetings with the Bishop and others were very rewarding. Much to ponder regarding current links and possible wider diocesan collaboration.

Parish visit this morning to Rathdowney Union. It was good to join the rector and meet many parishioners at services there. This afternoon at evensong in St Saint Canice's Cathedral, the choir was joined by the choir of St Fin Barre’s Cathedral Cork. Their combined voices sounded wonderful!

Lovely morning here in Dromantine near Newry where I’m speaking at part the Church of Ireland Youth Weekend which starts today. It is great to meet young people and youth leaders from all dioceses across Ireland.

This is the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Tomorrow Bp Niall Coll (RC Bishop of Ossory) will preach and I will celebrate the Eucharist at the 11.30 service at St Canice’s Cathedral in Kilkenny. All are welcome.
