WRESTLERS NETWORK PAY AUDIT SURVEY Conducted by Equity's newly founded WRESTLERS' NETWORK - the findings are a step towards tackling a lack of pay transparency in the industry. The Wrestlers' Network is making the data public to help inform UK based performers about current industry practice. It will also guide the Network's priorities in its efforts to improve the UK wrestling scene for those who work within it. GO TO EQUITY'S WEBSITE TO READ THE FULL FINDINGS OF THE SURVEY AND FIND OUT HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED WITH THE NETWORK. WORK PATTERNS on average respondents to the survey worked for: 7½ years in the wrestling industry For 8 different promotions in the last 12 months 38 shows in the last twelve months The most shows reported was 200 in a twelve month period! The data shows a clear connection between pay and experience - with those with less than 5 years experience unable to command higher fees and the best paid often having greater experience 56% of those surveyed were paid less than £50 per show. The average pay for wrestlers responding was £65 per show, with the lowest show fee for wrestlers being £15 and the highest being €500. Only 9% work full-time in the wrestling industry 38% of respondents were paid for their first show, but the majority of these were paid £20 or less. The survey found that the median pay for male wrestlers is £40, whilst the median pay for female wrestlers is £50. But, although on average female wrestlers may be paid more than their male counterparts, the latter is still better off than any other group - with the mean pay for men coming to £68.82 compared to £55.17 for women. DISPUTES 21.8% are owed late fees from bookings in the last 12 months 55.3% lost fees as a result of cancelled bookings in the last 12 months Only 1.7% always took deposits to protect themselves
