Maybe watching the “wrong” grade for all these years has just influenced my taste (the “wrong” way)?

Like, I know it’s early and I’m still in the “gut reaction” phase but I feel like the previous grade is genuinely better and this isn’t just some weird nostalgia for a version I’ve grown accustomed to. But ultimately that’s the thing, there’s no true “better” in art, it’s all taste.

Something about the color temps and the contrast feel more true to the era. Might just be years of watching previous releases but this new grade (in the screen cap comparisons with previous home releases) really feels like it’s pushing the levels. That said, Larry Smith signed off on this, so 🤷‍♂️

I was really hoping they’d go the anthology route on this one. All the characters and their individual motivations were cool but the show felt like it was idling a lot in the 2nd half and there’s just not enough momentum to carry my interest to a second season. They should’ve just put a bow on it.
