work is progressing along the northern half of whitney ave - excavation is nearly done, new curb is in for a majority of the length, and the future cycletrack base is being graded. rough shape of intersection bumpouts are visible, and signal crew is onsite installing new equipment foundations

the northern section of the state street cycletrack was paved last week as well as some other small pieces - will not be open for a bit as the intersections still need to be built for continuity, but the final vision is coming together!

the curbing subcontractor on state st works super fast - all this curb for the new grand ave island was set today. compared to the old island, this will be about 5x larger

live from state st! southbound lanes are closed for striping and signal work, temp signals are getting activated, cars in the northbound lanes tonight are some of the last to ever drive on them

i follow the bids posted by CTDOT weekly, and it looks like the sigourney st cycletrack project is out in hartford! i had heard shortly after it was built that they had designed it to reserve space for bike lanes, and this design looks really good. may do a thread on it at some point

nachtegaalstraat in utrecht, NL has the same building scale and R.O.W. width as upper state st in new haven...
what i like about urban dutch streets is that they use very low curbs and put parking behind them (white X), so that when a car is not parked, it is expanded sidewalk space
