Oh crap I can't believe it's been over 2 years since I got to see the annular eclipse at Chaco Canyon! 😭🫶

It was so magical. Fresh cooked breakfast, seeing the eclipse petroglyph on the cliff near the visitor center, and then watching the shadows turn into crescents until the ring was above us... 🤩

BIG CHONKY BEE ALERT!!!!! I'm pretty sure this beautiful fluffball is a Sonoran Bumblebee. This is the biggest one I've ever seen and compared to the other, smaller bees buzzing on the lavender bush, this one sounds like a jet airplane 🤭💖

So, we kicked out the Black Widow from a couple weeks back, but there's a couple orb weavers that have now moved into the back porch. I'm happy to leave them to their own devices because they make beautiful webs obviously, and they're eating all the extra bugs from the monsoon rains this season
A spotted western orbweaver spider, climbing on a garden plant it has anchored its webs to in my backyard adjacent to my back porch. It has bright, pale yellow markings against a dark body on its big old butt. A much larger spotted western orbweaver spider, upside-down on its invisible (to the camera) but very beautiful web, against the backdrop of concrete porch floor. I think I spooked it trying to take a picture of it and it flipped upside down to show me its bright belly markings.
