I think so much of this falls upon those who said "we just need to hear out their concerns" over and over as they moved the Overton window and then the law, step by step.

Almost nobody with any actual power stood up and said "no, we don't debate the concerns of bigots"

I am here for the rise of "theatre kid" politics, this is amazing

People overwhelmingly voted against the Tories, not for Labour to impersonate the right of the Tory party

They seem to have no awareness of what traditional Labour voters want, nor people on the Left in general

Good thing we have the Green Party to turn to now for actual progressivism

You would think that this would be a sign to Labour that they're walking a dark path, but I can almost imagine them cheering that this might mean a couple Reform voters move over (at the cost of thousands on the left and even centre)

Seeing a Labour home secretary go on national television to say that human rights have gone too far was honestly not something I was expecting to see... until Starmer's Labour

We were told to vote Labour otherwise these bad things would happen, then they ensured the bad things would happen anyway

It comes across like their actual argument wasn't with the unethical ideology of the Tories, but the incompetence when it came to implementation of that ideology

I don't get it, how far are they willing to go towards the far right in the hopes of picking up a few right wingers? We all know the people calling for this would never take a Farage-light

The only plus side is them self-imploding after the Tories doing so means we might finally modernise politics

That's the most frustrating part in some ways - it feels like a lot of those issues the trans community raised were picked up and warped into a transphobic attack on trans healthcare

Goes to show how little he knows about what being a member of parliament actually is like. He's such a joke

They played the game in the lead up to the election and then their true colours showed afterwards. I'm sure there are many trans people and trans allies which have gone from Labour voters to never being able to vote for them again

I hope it was worth it for you, Starmer, it wasn't for us

It really shows one of the scarier sides of AI, while it's hard to get the specific outcome that you want, if you're someone like Musk with effectively infinite resources, you can choose to manipulate what people are using as a source of knowledge

Feels like we're past the end of reliable knowledge

The thing is, Labour's comms and social media work is so awful that their attacks will only result in even more people joining the Greens

I say bring it on, Labour
