it's more drunken rambling than anything. I still think that there's a good reason to compensate those in gov. that work hard and truly for the people they represent but it's so vastly awful right now

...for members that do not reach attendance in votes or hold significantly lower approval than average should have the pay considered too high for sure. I mean it's probably as easy as them not getting paid proportionate to the amount of votes they skip that would do it.

the salary is high, but the proposed raise is only 3.8% similar to an end of year performance raise. pretty standard imo. also, cost of commuting to the capitol and moving to DC if they choose also justifies a good amount of it as well. but with performance bonuses, there should also be penalties...
