Roberto, I love this post. My father’s doctoral advisor (organic chemistry at UTAustin) wrote a book entitled Serendipity and its influence on science. My dad’s favorite quote is the one from Pasteur! Thanks for giving me a lesson in microbiology (about E. coli) and for nice memories about my dad!!

The propagation of waves certainly happens in the myxobacteria in the ripples that they make when aggregating.
