Why do we call our pets by these silly or unusual names like Dorrito,Snowflake, Whiskers McSassy or Whiskey? Why do we never call them names such as Marry, John, Andrew?
It would be funny hearing "Andrew shat on our new carpet, no more chicken for him" without knowing it's a dog.

I haven't seeiously studied German since I was 14 but it still makes me smile when I recognize words, phrases and the meaning of certain texts online. The language is not dead, it's just asleep.
